The available CITI courses are listed below. TheÌýHuman Subjects ResearchÌýcourses are those required by the IRB. All ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ faculty, staff, and student researchers who submit applications to the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ IRB must complete online CITI training before the application is considered complete.ÌýAll researchers (including advisors to student researchers)using human subjects are required to complete a course in Human Subjects Research and be listed on the research protocol. Please contact the IRB Office for more information about who needs to be listed on a particular research protocol.

6 Categories of Courses are available, including:

1. Human Subjects Research

  • "IRB Researchers and Sponsors - Basic Course" -Ìýrequired by non-student researchers and sponsors.
  • "IRB Student ResearchersÌý - Basic Course" - required by undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
  • "IRB Members" - required by members who sit on the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ IRB.

2. Animal Care and Use

  • These courses are optional and designed for those who conduct research with live animals at ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ or sit on the ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

3. Conflicts of Interest

  • Required for PHS-funded researchers

4. Health Information Privacy & Security (HIPS)

  • Covers data protection principles, focusing on the healthcare-related privacy and information security requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the educational records and data-related requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

5. Responsible Conduct of Research: RCR Course for Grant Workers

  • Required for federally funded researchers and their workers.

6. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certification:ÌýOften required for researchers receiving federal funding

  • GCP – Social and Behavioral Research Best Practices for Clinical Research
  • GCP for Clinical Trials with Investigational Drugs and Medical Devices (U.S. FDA Focus)
  • GCP for Clinical Trials with Investigational Drugs and Biologics (ICH Focus)
  • GCP for Clinical Investigations of Devices
